I make clients feel comfortable with my nontraditional and approachable attitude. I can be very laid back and casual, but I also know when to assert recommendations that will help you achieve my goals for therapy. In a time when we struggle to feel validated, I hope you can use our sessions together to build trust, form meaningful relationships in your personal life, and use your voice again. You are not alone. The pandemic shed light on mental health and created a fear many felt worldwide. I am a firm believer in mind, body, and spirit connection. They are all connected; we suffer when something is out of alignment. The most important thing is that you feel safe enough in the space surrounding you to work through the obstacles that have been getting in your way. When working with me, you can talk in the office or be immersed in nature with a walk and talk; it is up to you!
I work with people of all ages and enjoy diversity. Life transitions can occur anytime, whether switching schools, divorcing, relocating or death; these are parts of life that can foster deeper meaning. If you’re a kid, we have some catching up to do about gaming and school. Let’s find the meaning behind the TikTok videos and snaps for teens and adolescents. As for adults, let’s figure out what is underneath the pain or uncertainty. A commonality usually lingers regardless of age: feeling stuck, high expectations, stress, and unresolved conflicts. Nevertheless, we have the opportunity to help you heal again and uncover the root of the issues.
I have additional training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trauma therapy and a Marriage and Family Graduate Certificate, making me eligible for dual licensure. I studied family systems and couples issues in school and am well versed in these areas in addition to individual therapy. I am a current member of the Suncoast Mental Health Counseling Association and the International Honor Society in Psychology. In addition, I facilitated a music and art therapy group for approximately two years, giving me a rich toolkit to better assist persons with expressing themselves through creative outlets. I utilize Eastern and Western philosophies to accommodate a more extensive range of multicultural and eclectic backgrounds.
I look forward to working with you!
- My husband and I have been together for over a decade. (Time flies when you’re having fun!) We have a daughter together who is a toddler and lights up our lives.
- I am a music enthusiast and was a music promoter during my youth. I appreciate all genres of music, but my favorites are alternative rock, metal, hip-hop, smooth jazz, and flamenco.
- I have a genuine admiration for travel. My favorite landscapes are either mountains or waterfalls. My bucket-list destinations include New Zealand, The Maldives, Sydney (AUS), Capetown (SA), Alaska, and Japan.
- I have three cats and a Teddy Bear breed dog named Pookie. You could definitely call me an animal lover!
- I received my Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida in Tampa. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida in St Petersburg. I attended St. Petersburg College for my Associate of Arts at the Gibbs campus. Each college experience was wonderful on its own.
